Experiment No. K-9

Wow. I am really bad at this blogging thing sometimes.
*facepalm*

Even with school, however, I'm still finding time to draw! I've been working more on just quick sketches, random drawings, originals, et cetera. (So nothing really "blog-worthy".) Finally I drew something I can be proud to share! *claps*
However, it needs a bit of explaining...

Note: This will make more sense to those who have read Maximum Ride.

Okay, the explanation:
This (unfortunate) boy is a mix of wolf, bird, and human. His name is KIX (named so because of the tattoo on the inside of his arm K-IX; IX being the Roman numeral nine). He received the ears, tail, and wings from The School--an illegal scientific research organization, and also the main antagonists in the MR series.

He is probably about three to four in my drawing, (or your best guess... *shrugs*), and very sad. :( Wouldn't you if you were a scientific experiment?

I cannot claim the "rights" to him though, he is the OC (original character) of another talented writer, of whom I do not know her actual name. She wrote a fanfiction for Maximum Ride titled "The Wings of Wrath". Her writing was very beautiful, but the things I best liked about it were her OCs. I almost can't believe they're not in the actual series! And since I'm into drawing animal/human characters lately, from the moment of KIX's introduction I wanted to draw him. There are other characters and scenes I want to draw from that story, but I'm not promising anything yet.

Originally, it was going to be a more comic/manga style...but as usual I got a bit carried away... ;) Anyway, hope you like it!

Maximum Ride: Ari

Hello again world!
I am so happy! The latest Maximum Ride manga (vol. 7) came out last month! I think I am obsessed with NaRae Lee's style of artwork...it's beautiful!!!

Constantly, I am trying to draw the characters in her books in the hopes that, one day, I'll be able to draw like her on my own. Example:

This young man is Ari.

He has a tough past that I don't want to get into right now, but this is actually one of the only, (if no only), times I think he truly smiles. That's why I loved his expression so much. It's a look of innocent, unforeseen happiness. Isn't he cute?!?
At the beginning of the series, however, I must admit I hated Ari... he was horrible. But now, I finally started liking him a bit. T-T ... R.I.P. Ari.

I like how this drawing turned out. (It actually fills my entire 8.5 by 11 inch sketchbook sheet and continues a bit onto the page next to it with his jacket and shoulder.) Drawing his hair was a lot of fun. ^_^

*Sigh* I wish I could draw like this from memory...

Well, this artist is tired out.
Ciao!

Fan Art #2: Fang

Some fan art again!
This time, it's Maximum Ride.
After a few requests, ahem, which I am now glad for, I finally decided to try my attempt at Fang. He's personally my favorite: very strong, quiet, dark, handsome, and he deeply loves his "flock". Though, there are a few things, usually concerning Max, that I wish he would wait on until he became more mature. :( And sometimes he was just a jerk. Like we all can be. ;)
Anyway, I've finally drawn him, and love how it turned out! The "poses" (I guess you would call them) are from manga novels 3 and 6. RaRae Lee is an awesome illustrator! I love her work. She just finished Maximum Ride manga novel number six, so the next won't come out for a while. TT_TT

Here are the drawings:
Full drawing. I used graphite pencils on normal sketchbook paper.

A close up

Another close up.

Well, I hope you like them!

Post Script: I think the Maximum ride series age level should be 13 and up, (because of violence and a few issues in the last few books). Having your parents preview them first is good idea. Trust me, your parents know what's best for you.
Ciao for now!

Fan Art #1

I love the Maximum Ride and Daniel X manga novels. Maximum Ride is illustrated by an amazing artist, NaRae Lee. SeungHui Kye, another talented artist, illustrated Daniel X. One day, God willing, I'll be able to draw as well as they can. This is some "fan art" I drew.

Maximum Ride: Nudge. Old drawing. :(

Daniel X: Dana. (Full)

Daniel X: Dana. (Close-up)

Daniel X: Joe. He's one of my favorite characters!

Another one of Joe

I couldn't help taking these pics since I was already photographing my artwork,(that's why they're so dark).

My sketch book= my best friend.
(Not really)
